Do you use video sharing services like YouTube or Google video to show videos on your web page or blog? Thumbnails are captured images from the video that you could use to print or post to other platforms like blogs and website pages. This practise is always a terrific way to optimize your site and generate decent traffic. The site will be more user friendly and search engines can index your pages much faster because it has content in it. A good idea for landing pages and creating video catalogues. Video sharing sites are skilled at what they do, and that is to host a video for viewing. A number of people who have poor internet speeds cannot easily watch videos on the internet. Users still have to wait for the video to finish streaming before then can play it, so they could watch it without interruptions. While they are complaining about their internet, a pop-up window opens and tells them that their browsers don’t support plug-ins for the video. If the video takes too long, or is not compressed well, the videos will keep buffering because it takes a long time to finish them. Thus, making your pages longer to load and will [...]

Do you ever wonder what can you do with your videos? Especially the old ones? Then you’re on the right time to check and try them all out, and also know about video capture software’s. If you have a camcorder, portable video recorder, or those old vintage video cameras and it still works, then you’re in luck. Even-though it works one function of the video camera still remains questioned, can they take still images for you? Whether it is an old home video; a video that you took in high school, or something great happened on the way to your daily routes, and you only have your video camera with you. Those moments are still good even in poor quality; you can edit them like a pro with just clears shot taken from them. If you have a blog or a page you can easily post and share them on the internet and let it go viral. I know modern gadgets are now swarming these days; with the latest to the lowest gadgets, they can also be bought cheap if you know where to look. Ebay and amazon are the most popular ones. Hey, don’t throw away those old videos yet, they can be off [...]

Capture frames in WebM videos using FVI A little info about webM, WebM is an open media file format designed for the web. Its files consist of video streams compressed with the VP8 video codec and audio streams compressed with the Vorbis audio codec. The file structure is based on the Matroska media container. more info Ok, so now you have downloaded, or had a WebM video that you want to put up in a site, and you want to make thumbnails for it to post in your blog, social site etc. And, you probably have already installed the Fast Video Indexer (FVI) because this is the one were using, if not then download it here. If you have conflicts like the one below, then there’s a problem with the codec and it goes something like this. This Error comes up! If this happens there is a problem with your codec pack, if you have an FFDshow pack; which I have but didn’t work out. And so, I downloaded a new codec pack; because directshow packs doesn’t support some web codecs. Download the K-Lite Codec pack instead, when this error comes up FVI will prompt you to download either the XP codec [...]

Default mode: Sample Clips, Captured every frame at 20s (Name by ImageNo set to 1) Note: Be careful to avoid name duplication’s if you have saved index pictures in the same folder as your thumbnails. Previous Version: Fast video indexer v1.22 Installer now optionally downloads and installs ffdshow. Most peoples codec issues are solved if they have this installed. If you missed installing it, click on the image to download manually.
Old movie Films to Digital Formats There are several ways where you can convert your old video tapes like VHS, Betamax, Negatives, Film reel, etc to most digital formats. Some methods are easy and affordable while some are not. Let’s proceed into some methods that I have gathered throughout the web. Recording your Old Video tape through a Digital camcorder.. I have used this method several times and it turns out quite well, the image is quite the same and no quality is degraded (well, it depends on the camcorder you are using and the medium that you use). The only thing you need is an efficient camcorder that you could use and a tripod or something to hold it steady while filming. You must have an Old VHS player, or projector that would be compatible to your Old video tapes and position the camcorder or better yet the HD camcorder, let it film the whole thing and you’re done. While filming you must have an ideal room, a place where it can never be bothered, so it cannot capture any outside noise especially if you have children running around the house. Here are some setbacks about this method; it [...]

Restoring Old Home Videos It started out as cleaning the garage and decided to put up a garage sale for freeing up some space, then stumbled an old home video hiding in a box of old video tapes for years. Then ask yourself, why not remake the videos and start an archiving all of it. Yes, may it be your grandparents wedding, childhood videos, special occasions that you don’t see every day. It’s nice to see them time to time. If you have those reel-film projectors still working you can watch them. How about the other’s? VCR, Betamax or VHS videos. There are some players still available that can play all of them, look for old electronic shops. These formats are a bit outdated these days, so it’s very hard to look for them. If you want to preserve it that bad, you need a video software to somehow convert it into digital formats. You can check some info’s about it here. Well, there are a lot of video software’s out there that can preserve that kind of videos, and still restore its lost quality. You’ll have to go under time consuming methods just to convert them. Why bother, because [...]

Yesterday I did a minor update to the Fast video indexer thumbnail Index Software. I just fixed a few minor problems that have been irritating me. You can download the program from www.fastvideoindexer.com So what is new? First of all you can now re-index videos from the context menu on the results page. When a video is re-indexed it will use the current settings. Say for example you have your video collection indexed but you now want html pages for a few videos. Go to the setting page and check the html output. Next, right click the videos you want html pages for and select the re-index option from the menu. The videos are moved to the index queue and you will get your html pages. You can also change any other option like how many images to capture or what types of templates to use. Another simple thing that has been missing is an ability to remove videos from the result page. From the beginning the result page was just that but now when more and more people, including me, use the result page it’s nice to be able to get rid of videos that for some reason failed [...]
