Movica – Movica uses a basic GUI which utilizes some best functions and tools to edit movie files. Keyboard shortcuts and other miscellaneous tools are added and to make certain tasks easier. Basically, it’s created for editing different kind of movies that a Virtual Dub can’t perform with. Movica supports popular formatted files like .wmv, .flv, .rm and .mpg files. Simple and straightforward to use, it can be a replacement for some other video editing tasks that are hard to handle.

MovieStorm – Moviestorm has some of the complete 3D movie making application that you could use. Whether your movie making skills is cartoons, crime, music, horror etc., you could virtually make awesome animation effects employing this kind of video editing software.

Pinnacle Video Spin – Video Spin, free editor but the studio suite is not, simple, basic and performs a good job weighed against most free video tools. It doesn’t match certain qualities of paid editors, but perform basically any editing and output videos with qualities that a professional movie make can. Since pinnacle has some tools that integrate with the software, like the pinnacle image viewer, making movie slide also is pretty easy having this software around.

VirtualDub – VirtualDub is somewhat like a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms, licensed within the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a professional video composer, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing many files which enable it to be extended with third-party video filters. The downside of this software is that it doesn’t support general video file formats and is especially geared toward processing AVI files, even though it can see MPEG-1 and also handle teams of BMP images.

Story Board Pro Software – Atomic Learning’s FREE Video Story Board Pro was designed to give teachers, students, and home film makers something to plan ahead when coming up with video projects. It features a chance to enter shot titles and descriptions, filled with planned lengths in an edited manner, it syndicates shot types: video, still, audio, music, or titles plus much more.

Wax – Wax is often one of the top rated and flexible video compositing and computer graphics software available for free. The concept for Wax has been very general and flexible in video compositing and effects, to help you compose your dream-like video sequences without having short difficulties every time you create a project. Wax can create 2D & 3D effects and is employed in two modes – being a standalone application which may appeal for home users/beginners, and as a “plug-in” to video editors/NLEs which has become more useful for professional editors.

Windows Movie Maker 2.6 – Microsoft has produced version 5.6 of Movie Maker intended for download for XP, also it runs on both Windows Vista and Windows 7. While advanced users are most likely using a more sophisticated video editing program, there’s no denying that Movie Maker is an excellent, full-featured choice for the average home user.

Zwei-Stien Video Editor – Zwei-Stein  is a freeware non-linear, non-destructive video compositing and editing system that provides many advanced features unavailable to some video editing applications. With Zwei-Stein you’ll be able to edit approximately 256 video, audio and still image clips, each with up to 64 effects chained simultaneously. Cropping, panning and custom effects are easy with automatic key frames and a lot more tools that keeps that creative juices flowing.

Note: These rate below the reviews are my personal rating for the software, this is based on my background and experience using these softwares on my windows desktop.  Rate are 1-10, “10″ as the most outstanding editor among its category.
